Lemonade with LOVE!

Our wonderful friends the Eargles, particularly their son Wilhelm, are having a lemonade stand with proceeds to benefit our adoption on Thursday August 4th from 2pm-4pm at Lizzie Loo Photography in Shelbyville, KY. The address is 408 Sixth Street.

Which leads me to say that we are blessed as a family to have so many wonderful and loving friends who have and are continuing to support us on our adoption journey. Our hearts are overjoyed with the thoughts of bringing our children home. The prayers of our family, our friends, strangers even are felt continually.

If you are in the neighborhood on Thursday please stop by to see Wilhelm, grab some cold lemonade and a little treat!

This month we...

- mailed off our dossier and were DTE (Dossier to Ethiopia) on May 18th! Such an enormous weight lifted from our shoulders.

- went to an adoption fellowship where we were able to meet many families who have adopted or are in the process of adopting from Ethiopia. Very encouraging!

- are praising God for renewed strength in our adoption process and are continuing to ask that He would provide our financial needs to finish this journey.

- are beginning to explore some adoption grants and will be applying for these grants soon.

Facts about Ethiopia

Total population: 77 million

The average income in Ethiopia is US$100 a year. Almost 82% of the population lives on less than $1 a day.

Malnutrition levels are among the highest in the world.

The average life expectancy is 43 years.Ethiopia is home to 4 million orphans, or 12% of all children.

More than half a million of these were orphaned as a result of AIDS.

Literacy rate: 42.7% age 15 and over can read and write.

Only 18 percent of children reach grade five.

Ethiopia's neonatal mortality rate is one of the highest in the world - 49/1000 births with tetanus infection being the second major cause of infant/neonatal death.
